It was a unanimous opinion that Kayaba Akihiko, creator of the revolutionary NerveGear was a certified madman. What other reason would there be to trap ten thousand unknowing people of varying ages in an artificial world where they would live in fear of death every waking moment? What most of the world didn't know, was that Kayaba Akihiko was not exactly human. (Rating may change)

With the fall of the giants and the permanent dispatching of Gaia, there was finally a peace that lasted for seventeen years. But starting with the disintegration of all the good Cyclops and one harpy, and the appearance of stronger and smarter monsters, it falls to the next generation to defeat the greatest threat of all, or to be defeated and let the world plunge into the pit.
