While Clara is sleeping, the Doctor gives no thought at all to his cover story. Mostly because he's busy being afraid of what she'll say when she wakes up. A bit of Whouffaldi fluff/angst, at the end of Mummy on the Orient Express, that glorious shipper's manifesto of an episode.
"Really we're just good friends," they always tell the aliens, and the aliens say, "Ha ha ha ha ha ha hahaha," in a manner the Doctor finds to be unnecessarily sarcastic. (Two best friends snog each other across the universe. Whouffaldi fluff.)
Post-Christmas reunion, the Doctor and Clara go for a little peaceful togetherness time. "Bonding ritual" is taken a bit too literally. Major whouffaldi fluff, for which I would apologize if I was at all sorry.
The Doctor, it seems, is a dangerous man, but Clara thinks she knows what he wants. She thinks she knows what she wants, too, but she's been wrong before, God knows, no point in denying it. Reunion fic. Whouffaldi.
