This is a fanfiction that I had stowed away for a long time. This is a republished version as the first time, I did not succeed in publishing it. A certain M. Pierre Defarge asks Holmes advice on a little social conundrum, his old lover writes after a long time to him, but Defarge believes it to be a hoax. Should he reply or not?

Watson wishes desperately he could see Holmes one cold evening. "He missed Holmes. It was not the cases that had drawn him to Holmes after a while but simply the thought of being of use to the dearest person he had on earth. His heart grew heavy with longing".
