AU. James Potter is the (self-proclaimed) best thief in Britain—until he meets Lily Evans. When his group of Marauders reluctantly team up with her H.O.G.W.A.R.T.S. acquisition task force, they must work together to steal back a highly valuable asset from a shady black market organization.
L/J. Oh, James. Open mouth; insert foot.
L/J. The rules of the Gryffindor Games? Anything goes. And with a tower full of reckless, irresponsible maniacs, there won't be enough Pomfrey to go around.
L/J. Kissing James Potter in the middle of the common room is wrong, so wrong, but Lily gives up. She hasn't slept in two days and her brain is obviously delirious, so she releases hold of it and it clicks off like a light switch. Nox.
L/J. A series of short vignettes. James and Lily like to appreciate the little things in life.
L/J. It's the most twisted love story: unrequited, unknown. Maybe she deserves it. She gave it up, after all. It was hers, always hers, but she pushed it away and now she can only watch it given to others. She broke him. And that's what haunts her.
L/J. She's almost to the library when a hand grabs her wrist and yanks her into what appears to be an empty classroom. It is. They've been here before. She's intimately acquainted with the desk nearest the door. But it's a good thing she's not honest.
L/J. "We should leave." With the receiver pressed against her ear, Lily waited in the quiet of the night, twisting the telephone cord in a white-fisted hand. She should've known he wouldn't like the idea, but she was so tired of the nightmares...
L/J. 'James chuckles. "I should get on? What did I marry you for if you're not going to make breakfast in the morning?"'
HIATUS. L/J. "Listen to me. That bloke has been watching you – no, don't look! He's been watching you since you got in here. When I tell you, I want you to get up, saunter over to the bar, and order a Firewhiskey." Because Lily Evans does not get turned down.
When she gets to the Kitchens, she doesn't expect James Potter to be there. James drops the spoon he's holding. It clatters into the bowl of batter and disappears beneath the surface. A glob of it lands on his jumper. "No! No. Come in. I'm making cookies. For Sirius."
L/J. It doesn't surprise her at all that James Potter comes rushing into the Hospital Wing only an hour after she lands herself there. And for someone she doesn't even like all that much, she's still glad to see him.
L/J. While the Marauders help Remus through his transformation, Lily waits, because it's the only thing she can do. And then James is brought in, cut and bleeding.
A collection of drabbles from Wilhelmina Willoughby and Zayz, written to commemorate Lily and James.
L/J. "The first duty of love is to listen." In arguing, neither gave up. But when James finally walks away and Lily is left standing in his wake, the echo of his silence ringing in her ears, something changes in her heart.
L/J. It all starts when Lily helps James with an Arithmancy assignment. Now, she's not sure how many favors are owed, or how far in debt she is, but there's one thing she does know: she's definitely in trouble.
L/J. The Aha Moment: a point in time when something finally clicks. Everyone realizes that there's something more between James and Lily, though it takes some people longer than others. James has always been a slow learner.
L/J. '"Mister Potter," she whispers. "How are you on this fine morning?" That contradicting smile grows on his face - charming and naughty and shy all at once, the smile of a man with everything he's ever wanted in his hands.'
L/J. It's easy to say that the Prefect's bath is his favorite place in the world lately.
AU L/J. 'She looks terribly undecided, and scared, and nervous, and overwhelmed, and sad. Mostly she looks alone, and he hates that, hates that he had everything to do with that. "I'm so sorry, Lily," he says finally, because he is. God, is he sorry.'
