"The first time they meet, he's twenty-four, and she literally falls from the sky. He thinks it's love at first sight. It's not—it rarely ever is—but close." AU.
AU. On Halloween of 1981, only one member of the Potter family survives the attack at Godric's Hollow. And it's not Harry.
"His name was Terrence Hunter, muggle-born and all kinds of perfect, but Lily couldn't help but note the lack of callouses on his fingers, the way his brown curls crowned his kind face a little too immaculately, the way his eyes were of the wrong hue…how there wasn't a pair of spectacles for her to remove before he leaned in to kiss her." Three-shot. JPLE.
"Her last page never contained hammering hearts louder than the faint thrum of fireworks from afar. And, perhaps most notably, there were no lips so close she couldn't see them anymore, no fingers running a torturously slow trail up her jean-clad thigh." JPLE One-shot.
"He's convinced, more than ever, right here with her this close and with each faint explosion echoing his heartbeats, and the fact that he would have held her hand had it not for the umbrella and the bags: that once upon a time, there was a girl, and he was in love with her… and apparently it hasn't moved on to the next page yet." Oneshot.
They all found themselves playing in the rain outside, Harry on James's shoulders, Lily holding an umbrella over them (with her wand, for her husband was tall, good Merlin), and the three other marauders drenched wet in the yard, determined to make a show for James's laughing little boy with two Quaffles and mediocre acting skills. (JPLE one-shot, with a dash of the Marauders.)
Superhero AU written for jily trope fest. Here are the Order of the Phoenix heroes who spend most of their break time in the isolated Room 78-H: Lily, healer. Sirius, telekinetic. James has a deck of knife cards—that, and a never-failing aim. Peter can detect a lie in an instant. Remus... Well, you'll find out in two weeks.
"James leans in. Lily hears the script crumple in his hands, but she doesn't look to check. His lips touch the corner of hers, a hand coming up to cup her face. He is moving. So. Maddeningly. Slow... She curses in her head, makes up about a hundred thousand excuses for the next second—and then grabs him down by the back of his neck and kisses him fully, desperately, fervidly." AU.
Jilytober 2015 prompt: James and Lily (and Harry) survive October 31st, 1981.
Prompt: Lily gets flak for dating James and gets sucked in to the belief that he's better off without her. She tells him she doesn't love him anymore, and after a while, she manages to make him believe the lie.
"Tonight, all over the country, under the mantle of flickering lights and passing cars, if you strain your ears enough, there are a thousand different voices toasting to a boy called Neville Longbottom. To the boy who lived, they declare, and the waves of laughter crash all the way to dawn. Godric's Hollow is quiet; a folded corner on the map of the rejoicing wizarding world." AU.
She needs him, needs a lot of things; needs to inspect his head for herself and make sure he didn't crack it open, because he's an idiot. She needs to apologize and berate, needs to trace his jaw with her fingertips, unearth the seasons in his eyes, taste his Quidditch-sky-laden lips.
She smiles at him, warm and wide, and James is amazed at how massive of a moron Terrence is for letting something like that get away.
James doesn't want to be (just) a friend. Lily misunderstands.
He has never seen her this drunk before, and he's not sure if he's more amused or worried about it.
"Today he looks up—it only takes a second, really; only a second to forever—and he sees her: green-eyed girl across the aisle, legs crossed, flaming red hair, sitting with a box of assorted things. Her fingers are careful around the camera she's occupied with, and her smile is the sun barely risen; quiet, gentle, radiant." Muggle AU.
Maybe he'll get that porch thing. You know; rocking chairs, white flimsy hair, the beach maybe. She'll be wearing glasses too, and he'll tease her endlessly about it, but there'll be nothing more he adores in the world... The porch thing. He and Lily have always called it the porch thing.
James and Lily brew Amortentia together—and nothing happens. Lily thinks she's officially gone forever numb, James thinks the dungeons smell like a swamp, and everyone concludes they're both idiots. Everybody's daft in love.
Maybe heaven's an entirely different place. Maybe heaven's starting over. Maybe heaven's wherever, whenever, however they meet again. Jily Reincarnation AU. Oneshot.
