The Great War has ended. Spartan S-989, Marcus, is one of the many Spartans now in service to the UNSC and it's allies. When he and his companion AI, Ariel, encounter an unknown installation they're ordered to investigate. When the installation hits them with an energy pulse, their slipspace generator malfunctions sending them further than they could ever imagine.
