Sarah Barnes has moved back to Hawkins to live with her dad, his new wife and her stepbrother Jason following her mom's death from cancer. She missed graduating last year, so will be finishing her senior year at Hawkins High. This year is going to be Eddie Munson's year, despite what has happened before. This year he's graduating and getting out of Hawkins as fast as he can!

One night whilst going over her Potter themed lesson plans, she feels an odd tugging sensation in her abdomen and finds herself in the office of Professor Albus Dumbledore in 1993 at the start of Prisoner of Azkaban.
