It's the night when they know for sure that something's off about Remus. All three boys make a promise that no matter what it takes, they will find out Remus's secret, and they'll help him get through it, always remaining by his side.

"I can't do this, Remus!" Sirius howled. "I can't stand doing nothing! I can't take it! And I can't lose Harry too!" Hours after he sees the boggart pretending to be Harry's body, Sirius vents his emotions to the only friend he has left.

Memories came swarming over Hermione, memories of a boy who had screamed at both her and Ron only yesterday that going down there to save the Philosopher's Stone was the right thing to do. "No, it wasn't," she sobbed as she held his cold hand, laying her head on his chest. "Nothing was worth the price of your life, Harry. Nothing."

His father howled. His mother held his hand tenderly as though love could bring him back. Harry wept. Cho screamed. His housemates and friends held each other and cried or stared at his body in numb disbelief. As they united in grief, little did they know that he was looking on, wishing they knew that he wasn't far away. And he never would be.

"No! No! No! You've got the wrong man! Get your filthy hands off him!" James screamed as he threw his body at the fence which separated him from the mortal world, Lily sobbing hysterically beside him. This was unbearable, not being able to do anything as they witnessed Sirius Black being dragged off to a place worse than Hell itself.

"You may not think so," he whispered into the dark, empty room, "But I do have feelings." After Penelope Clearwater's petrification, Percy Weasley lies awake and thinks about his family. They may not think their constant teasing and heckling hurts him, but Merlin, it does.

Harry never really remembered what happened to him during the time he was unconscious and close to death in the Philosopher's Stone, but sometimes, at night, he would have dreams of being held and loved, wrapped up in his parents' tender arms.
