1997-1998. Für die Carrows sollten die Gryffindors unvorsichtig tun und ertrappt werden, die langweiligen Ravenclaws aus dem Streit einsichtig heraushalten, die unterjochten Hufflepuffs sich beflissen unauffällig verhalten... und jeder erwartet von der Slytherinen – scharf oder mit Abscheu – dass sie sich benehmen, wie künftigen Offizieren der feinen reinbluten Gesellschaft.

1997-1998. Pour les Carrow, les Gryffondors ne peuvent qu'agir imprudemment jusqu'à se faire prendre, les ennuyeux Serdaigles, rester raisonnablement en dehors de ça, les Poufsouffles opprimés, faire assidument profil bas… et tous attendent des Serpentards – avec férocité ou dégoût – de se comporter en futurs officiers de la haute Société de Sang-Pur.

In the 1997-1998 school year, for the Carrows the Gryffindors are meant to act imprudently and to be caught, the boring Ravenclaws to stay sensibly out of it, the oppressed Hufflepuff to lay assiduously low… and everybody expects of the Slytherins – with fierceness or aversion – to take the course of action of future officers of the high Pure-Blood Society.
