Harry runs away from home before his first year after Dudley becomes a wizard too and bullies Harry. He meets a big black stray dog on the streets and decides to keep him. Harry doesn't know that the dog is actually his godfather, Sirius Black, who was freed a year ago after Pettigrew was caught.
