Aubrey is kicked out of the house by her mother when she's 18. Left homeless, with no other friends left in Faraway as everyone else has moved on, she's forced to go to Basil. He takes her in despite everything she did to him years ago, and appears to be doing better since everything that's happened. But he may not have recovered from the past nearly as much as he seems.
