(AU where Dean doesn't throw Human!Cas out of the bunker. ALTERNATE SEASON 9.) Dean helps Cas cope with being human. But when a hunt arises that is strangely similar to one they faced before, they are caught off guard and it has dire consequences. Developing Destiel. Slow burn.

"Who are you, then?" "I'll give you three guesses." The younger hunter frowned, processing for a second before his face fell. "You're kidding me." "Sorry, kid." - Sam and Dean are forced to confront their past when they little come face to face with their former selves. And Cas helps. Developing into Cas/Dean.

"Of course he died. This was the easiest case they'd ever had. Everything was going so well it could only be paving the way for some huge cosmic punchline." A story following the events of Carry On. Rewriting the heaven scene, and following Team Free Will 2.0 in what comes next. Dean/Cas Sam/Eileen

Sam put his hands up slightly, trying to diffuse some of the tension. "It's him. I've run him through every test we know how to do." "No, Sam. It's just Lucifer." Dean closed his eyes. "It's just a dream." Sam's face scrunched. "No Dean, it's not." "It always is." (An alternate finale fix-it.)

"That's why this dream was so foreign to Dean. He was standing next to Cas in the bunker library. He kept waiting for whatever terrible thing that was going to happen, but it never came.
