Hiratsuka Shizuka complains to Hikigaya Hachiman how the service club will be dissolved unless it gets any new members. Reluctantly he joins the club as a part time member and he meets the volatile service club president and helps her search for new members while also helping students who come to the club with their strange requests. Think you know the story. Think again.

It's been a week since the new semester started and life in university has become hectic. Haruno learns of Izumi Miyamura. Miura bumps into Ryuuji Takasu. Saki gets harrassed by Takumi Usui. Hina Ebina lives with Kyo and Yuki Sohma. Meguri finds Miyuki Shirogane cute. Yui is saved by Takeo Gouda. Yukino visits Haru Yoshida. And Hikigaya is with -?

It wasn't funny but he figured someone out there was having a laugh at his plight. A highschooler in love with his teacher – no, screw that – Hikigaya Hachiman in love with Hiratsuka Shizuka. Yeah, it was funny. It was hilarious. But he wasn't laughing. He couldn't laugh. Perhaps he would never laugh.

Perhaps he would never understand her and the thought scared him. Man is always afraid of what he doesn't understand. But can a man fall in love with what he doesn't understand? Of course not. Yet here he was, lying awake in the middle of the night, thinking about how to write a poem – a romantic poem at that – because Yukinoshita Haruno told him she liked romantic poems.

Hikigaya tried to think of the good times they had, but nothing came to mind. Ebina Hina was the absolute worst. What kinda girl asks a guy such questions without blushing? What did he like about her? The real answer – wait, she didn't ask for the truth. It just had to be believable. He could lie. But if he told the truth - Everything.

When a person with a special ability turns to crime and becomes a cold blooded killer, his victims being killed in a cold, ruthless and gruesome manner, the police turn to the people from the special task force for assistance. Five young women, all of them officers of the law are murdered. The killer is loose in the streets. Will Hikigaya-sensei be able to catch him?

At the end of the day criminals are still human beings. "If life has no value, then death is meaningless". In Sinjuku, we explore the corrupt and criminal elements who run the city. Like Hikigaya, the fixer. And Rumi, his protege. Think of this as a slice of life crime drama with a sprinkling of romance. A very twisted romance. (Chapter 1: Smoking Gun)
