Magic…is sentient. How else it would defend its host from harm that he is unaware of? Magic…is also selfish. Why else would it grant powers to some unworthy humans if not for some grand masterplan? Magic…also does not like when people meddle with it's domain. So when a Satanist from non-magic earth tries to steal some of it just to prove it, things get complicated.
