Soul hasn't spoken a word since his father walked out. He's never had a friend in the world besides his brother. He initially finds himself displeased and anxious when he's brought to the Academy and paired with his chatty polar opposite, but soon finds that she might be the key to him finding his voice again.

Melody is Maka and Soul's only daughter. When Soul comes home eight years after supposedly walking out, Melody overhears him arguing with Maka, and decides to find out the truth about where her father went all those years ago and to bring him back home for good. Little does she know that looking for him could put her and her mother in mortal danger.
