It had been four years and he still didn't feel sure. She loved him, he was almost certain, but what a subjective concept to grasp. One-shot, Fremione.
Just as life starts to return to normal post-War, the Ministry imposes an unthinkable law. Struggling to regain their footing, the young survivors of the Final Battle are forced to navigate arranged marriages, affairs, child-rearing, and the heavy weight of their pasts. A lot of the focus is on Draco and Hermione, but there are several pairings, as well as sex in later chapters.
OotP. The twins had always advised Hermione to find the silver lining in unjust situations. If this wasn't injustice, she didn't know what was. But even the worst of times have their upsides. Slight language warning, but nothing above a T.
'...They stayed together, stretching their moment out as long as they could in their lip-lock as explosive and dramatic as the fireworks Fred had stocked up for his nearing departure...' A moment between Fred and Hermione before Fred and George's departure from Hogwarts in OotP.
"'I didn't survive a battle just to die in a broom accident.' 'And I didn't come out of a coma so I could date a chicken.' 'Fine, Weasley, you're on'" Fred finally convinces Hermione to ride a broom. Title sort of says it all.
This is Fred Weasley we're talking about. He can't just ask an important question like a normal human being. A mischievous Fred, a suspicious Hermione, and a mysterious orange potion.
After the war, Fred Weasley is in a coma. Trying to put an end to George's despair, Hermione offers him a chance to bring Fred back. An ancient spell gives the two a trip into the mind of the ringleader of the prankster duo, enabling them to see his secrets, relive his memories, and perhaps revive him.
'This was a small mercy. And then my safe haven seemed to be infected with a shot of poison… no matter what blessings and curses the coming months or years hold in store for us, there will always be another day of happiness somewhere along the horizon…' Hermione's POV. Hatred and hope, and what the future may hold...
In which James Sirius Potter meets his notoriously mischievous namesakes, and reminiscing and banter ensue! A sequel to Namesakes, but can stand alone.
HBP. After Ron's inadvertent poisoning, Hermione is at his beside, confessing some long-repressed thoughts. "'...I guess it was nice to feel wanted, for once. I know you didn't mean to, but you hurt me then, Ron. I wanted to be more than just a last resort to you…Viktor made me feel like I wasn't second best…You should understand how important that is…'"
"...she'll come back to me, for one reason or another, and I don't much care what reasons she picks, as long as she makes her way back again, I'll know I haven't lost her, not yet...somewhere along the lines, the anger will fade to passion, or maybe they were both there to start with, we just had to wait for them to bleed together..." An odd relationship between Snape and Lily.
"It's been five years, but I still remember the days when their eyes shone brighter than the stars twinkling above us..." Harry's thoughts on war, casualties, and innocence long gone.
"...This is not a love affair. This is mutually assured destruction of the most hedonistic variety..." Snape's thoughts on an odd affair with Bellatrix and the business of duplicity.
"We stand, face-to-face, toe-to-toe, wondering what we're going to do when the song is over, when we have to step apart. What now? Back to harsh reality, the lonely tent and the abandonment and the fear and imminent war. We've each lost our other; so where do we go from here?" Hermione's dance with Harry and her thoughts on Ron leaving.
"No. He took me aside and said, 'Albus Severus Potter, you were named for two Headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I ever knew.'" "The bravest man he ever knew?" Snape repeats, all hints of malice drained from his voice. A fic in which James Sirius Potter introduces Albus Severus Potter to Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape.
"...I realise that my whole life has been nothing but lies and fabrication, but I didn't notice until now, now that it's too late. Dirty blood. Dirty blood, honestly..." Set sometime during HBP, from Draco's POV. Realisations, regrets, and Lucius.
'...But this time, as I perform the most painful exercise in futility in all of my eighteen years, the pain is so deep it feels like a knife, buried to the hilt in my chest. I wasn't expecting to hear anything. But what kills me is knowing that I never will..." Hermione's thoughts over the years of Professor Lupin, his lycanthropy, and the full moon.
In the immediate aftermath of the Battle, Draco finds comfort and opportunity promised in Luna's eyes. 'Her eyes banish the outside world, shoving away cruel reality in favour of dreams, posing unanswerable questions and a desire to believe in the impossible. The foolish, even.'
One-shot. George Weasley contemplates his other half and the answer to an unthinkable question.
"Of course I see, Remus!" she exclaimed. "Don't you get it? It's not that I see it; it's that I see past it!" Lily helps Remus realise that those who truly matter see more to him than just his lycanthropy.
