Garnet Took

  • In The Aftermath

The Battle of Bywater is lost. Pippin must survive in the aftermath of that loss. Contains violence, slash and implied slash of both a consensual and non-consesual nature also mention of character death. This is not my usual type of story. It is also my first attempt at first person narrative.

  • In Fangorn Forest

Merry and Pippin have a talk about responsibility and growing up after their escape from the Uruk-Hai.

  • Hot Summer Night

It's Gondor, it's Summer and it's hot. How does a hobbit survive? This story does mention the juditious use of medicinal herbs. This was originally written for Marigold's Challenges.

  • To Have or Have Not

Pippin and Diamond still wish they could have more children. They know the hope is very faint but they can't let go of it. Will they, and their marrieage, survive the effort to have a second child. The is part two of my "The Thain's Family" series. Note: I'm giving this an M rating to be on the safe side. We are talking about reproductive issues, after all.

  • All in a Day

A lot of thing can happen in a day's time as the hobbits see while staying in Gondor.

  • Of Difficulties and Delicate Situations

After more than two years of marriage, Diamond and Pippin have not been able to have a child. Pippin decides that it is time to get advise and help from the best healer he knows, Aragorn. This story is the first in the my "The Thain's Family" trilogy. Note: This story deals candidly with the reproduction and the problems that can be associated with it.

  • Completion

Part three of "The Thain's Family". This story finishes the trilogy of stories about Pippin and Diamond and their attempt to grow their family. This picks up right after the epilogue of "To Have or Have Not".

  • Thain Peregrin I: the First Days

Pippin's first few days as Thain were an exciting and challenging time for him, his assistant, his family and his friends. This is a look at how he survived that time to go on to become the best Thain the Shire had ever seen.

  • Victories Won

As they watch over an injured Pippin at Cormallen, Gandalf tells Gimli of his first meeting with the young hobbit. Originally written for Marigold's challenges.

  • The Long Night

Merry and Pippin are faced with one of the longest nights of their lives as a slow-moving storm hits Buckland. Written for one of Marigold's Challenges and influenced by two real-life events.

  • SR 1433

Merry and Pippin discuss the possibility of a bridge at Sarn Ford and remember other rivers they have crossed and the mishaps that occurred. The title is just the year the story takes place. I couldn't think of a title at the time I wrote it, so this was how it was labeled.

  • Shadowed Rain

Is it only the Spring rains making Merry moody or is it something else?

  • Of Visions and Bad Dreams

Somewhere between Rivendell and Moria, Pippin has a bad dream but is it more than that.

  • Of Snowhobbits and Cold Chills

Written for Marigold's Challenges First Line Challenge. Bullies aren't just a modern problem. Pippin deals with a bullying cousin while visiting Brandy Hall.

  • Triumphal Entry

As the new King enters his city, his smallest knight makes some observations.

  • The Road Trip

Our characters are known to talk to us in our heads but what if they traveled across the entire United States to visit us. This was a present for a fellow writer inspired by a live journal post several years ago. Her name is used in the story but it could just as easily been you or I they came to see. Total silliness now follows.

  • What If

How would events at the Crack of Doom played out had Frodo not been the hobbit to survive to reach that point? These vennets show just a few of the possible outcomes. Warning!-Character Death!

  • The Short Cut

My first completed Lord of the Rings story from way back in 2004. Merry and Pippin go on a hike and we learn why Pippin doesn't like short cuts.
