  • my somber heart seeks you always

The Great War woke a devil in Matt Murdock. This is why he bare knuckle boxes. This is also why he cannot love Claire Temple. But when she runs afoul of some gangsters, Matt must involve himself or risk losing her entirely. Dancing around his feelings was far easier when death, his friends' well-placed meddling, and a corruption scandal weren't involved. (1920s/non-powered au)

  • coming with the spring

Natasha had come to Chicago for the homicidal robots, but fate seemed to be telling her that running into, and then helping the Winter Soldier was her main objective. (post captain america 2)

  • i knew thee, death

Katrina knows Abraham thinks he loves her. She also knows that he believes he might just have to break her legs to make her stay still and realize she loves him back. But she has gone through heart ache, loss, persecution, and finally Purgatory. She can handle Death. She just isn't sure how much of her will be left when she does.

  • listen, beloved

He had been comfortable before he found her. He had been a great desert, an icy tundra, able to change and out live anything. Then he saved her, and is made to suffer because he realized that he is just that-a desert. Dry and dead and needing all the water that she can give. (second piece to 'the mind is its own beautiful prisoner')

  • it's not the end of the world

Jason had made a lot of plans over the last five years, but when his scheme to murder the Joker fell apart, he was left without so much as a prayer. Thankfully Barbara was there to drive him down the highway of catharsis, no matter how much he kicked, screamed, and moaned about it. (jason & barbara in the best of broships)

  • saved from something like regret

Natasha painted and framed pictures, and Clint did whatever to make ends meet. They were just normal people. Except for the fact that sometimes he picked locks and broke into businesses. And she definitely maybe was a retired con artist with a bounty on her head, set by her vengeful uncle. Just normal people. (con artist au)

  • no one has become poor (by giving)

Jim knew you weren't supposed to feed strays, else they would come back and never leave. But it was just a plate of spaghetti, and it was only once. And besides, he was a capable, responsible adult. He could take care of a stray...except his stray was a little girl. And instead of fleas, she has a smart mouth and a penchant for stealing things. This was such a good idea.

  • carrion birds

Katrina stands at Death's side, to learn his secrets and destroy him from the inside out. Any accusations of her being Death's pet are false. Any questions about her loyalties are to be ignored. She is a fire bird, not a carrion bird, there to burn down the armies of Moloch. She just has to remember which is the lie.

  • my boy builds coffins

Pepper and Tony moved to the desert after the war. They left the opulence of their former lives, bought with the money from selling war machines and bright, blood soaked ideas to the military. Now, Tony isn't the rich, privileged inventor, he is the poor, talented coffin maker living in the slums of a desert city. Shame the government doesn't want to see it that way. (fantasy au)

  • wash me with your water

They just needed to go kill this monster that was drowning people in the South, then they could go to Disney World. Then said monster can't stay dead, Dean's past keeps coming up to sucker punch him in the stomach, and he may or may not be dying. Also, Bela's there, so in all, it's probably not Dean's best day.

  • ashes on my tongue and terror on my lips

Ichabod had experienced a lot of unpleasant things in his life. Kidnapping, especially the second time around, shouldn't have been so disconcerting. Maybe it was because this time, he was held by witches, or that they planned on eating his soul. Or maybe it was because he was going absolutely off his head.

  • poor little rich boy

Clint didn't know why he did it. He just did, he screwed up and he made horrible choices over and over and over. And that was fine. Until one day, he realized that he was buying prostitutes and ruining things and lying with his big, bright smiles because he was probably the most messed up person he knew. (au, 'eyes blue' companion)

  • take me to birdland (and hurry)

It went like this: Steve was Bucky's best friend. Steve would help Bucky out with anything. Steve would always be the one person Bucky could rely on. Bucky just happened to be lying to Steve. But Bucky was doing fine, good, even. He was doing good he was doing good he was doing good he was doing cocaine. (drug addict au)

  • if i believe in death

She died, but is not permitted to rest. She wishes to do good, but is not allowed to repent. Instead, she is caught between the world of an asset and a liability, and is allowed to suffer accordingly. Vesper, it seems, was never one meant for happiness. (first piece to 'the mind is its own beautiful prisoner')

  • through the cold and through the dark

John knew he shouldn't jerk the girl up by her jacket, but he was more concerned about escaping a snowed in warehouse filled with a psychopath, several incapacitated synthetics, a dysfunctional leg, and a barely conscious little girl. Plus he's drugged to the teeth, so there's that.
