All he's realised since the war ended is that the world is full of different kinds of monsters. Tom was the worst, he's gone and now others are rushing to fill his place. The tables have turned in favour of the light but nobody suffers any less, It is a vicious cycle he intends to break, even if he has to be a monster to do it.
