When an ordinary Bemidjii resident has a seemingly mundane encounter with two outsiders at a bar, she finds herself growing dangerously involved with the violent events perpetrated by both them and the mysterious drifter, Lorne Malvo. Naturally, shenanigans ensue and it all goes downhill from there.
