Darcy, his cousin the colonel, and his cousin the viscount, are all of them unmarried. The three are summoned to London by the Countess of Disley, mother to the latter two, who is determined that they should all be married by the end of the Season. An alternate history tale.

Bingley and his sisters are relations of Mr. Allen, who has left his fortune to someone outside the family. Caroline suggests inviting Catherine Morland to Netherfield, making no secret of her designs for a match between the two. Meanwhile, Bingley's friend Fitzwilliam Darcy - also visiting at Netherfield - finds himself surprisingly drawn to local girl Elizabeth Bennet.

A variation where Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner are Elizabeth's parents. She meets and falls in love with Fitzwilliam Darcy, future Master of Pemberley. The couple decides to elope but they are torn apart by their closest relatives, and when reunited must determine whether the pain of the years that have passed can be overcome to regain the love that was lost.
