For several years I have been writing reviews of stories written by friends. They were meant only for their eyes but, with their permission and with encouragement from others, I've decided to post them starting with my most recent essay. The quality varies due to the writing interval and my own growing skill, but they're still worth reading and will encourage critical thinking.

(A Life by the Sea: Part 6) The year is 2010 and Teddy has just turned eleven and received his Hogwarts letter, but with the letter came a feeling that he has no idea how to handle. Teddy isn't sure he wants to go.

Join them as they get away from it all and re-experience the joys of the world on a five day long voyage from Xàbia, Spain back to their home on the south coast of France. (Part four of A Life by the Sea) Set six months after Any Other Way and three months after To Break Nature's Rule; Fleur has at last come to terms with the emotions stirred up by the incident at the Department of Experimental Magics and Artifacts, but her struggles do not occur in a vacuum. Harry and Fleur are parents, and their children learn from them both for good and bad.

Harry Potter remembers the war, he remembers it so well that he doesn't think he can ever fight again. He's done his best to make the world a better place, but the days blend together and he isn't sure if he's made the world better for everyone, or everyone but him. On a night like this Harry takes his broom and flies high above the earth, wishing he didn't have to return.

(Part Three of A Life by the Sea) It's been three months after the incident at the Department of Experimental Magics and Artifacts, Harry turns twenty-eight next Tuesday, and Andromeda is bringing Teddy over tomorrow morning to spend the week with his godfather. There's a party at the Burrow Sunday evening, and Fleur can't stop looking at where Charles Bassett's office used to be.

Sunlight streams through arched windows into a simple kitchen filled with scents of food and the sounds of peace, the sea air wafts through the open windows and the smell of fresh bread hangs in the breeze.
