I would imagine that of the handful of persons past and present ever to have considered fanfic for Steve Ditko's creator-owned characters, the idea of means justifying ends (rather than versa vice) and doing one about a character's childhood would come across as taboo, despite a thing being itself and neither thoughts or feelings.
A 50-year history of a different Marvel universe, one where magic and science have largely swapped roles, but where matters rarely work out for the best. A studied exploration of the major characters and themes with irony and humor and enough applied philosophy to give Alan Moore another reason to grimace.
