The Imperial flag reigns across the galaxy. Some join the Empire in hopes of keeping the galaxy secure, others see the flag as a sign of evil. From the ashes of the Republic, a Rebellion is formed and they can take anyone who is willing to fight. One group of soldiers have come together for their own reasons, but what unites them is the fight against the Empire.

In this world, humans and strange creatures fight side by side in great battles. However, that time has long since passed. Now, in a more peaceful world, students gather at Garreg Mach Monastery to learn about both war and battle with the strange creatures at their side. With the arrival of two new professors, a dark shadow begins to loom over the monastery and the world.

Before the fall of Shinganshina, humanity had it's best graduating cadets. The top seven were all Oriental, a group that were shunned by the populace. However, these seven did not concern with that and only focused on what they wanted. Following the destruction of Shinganshina, the seven joined separate regiments, all in hopes of finding where they belong.
