Edward's transformation to a vampire comes with a side-effect of memories from a past life. Deciding to approach life a bit differently this time (as he is now immortal and doesn't want anything to do with his book counterpart), he takes a more carefree, easygoing approach to life, making him friendlier and more acceptable (and approachable) than OG Edward ever was.

After finding herself reborn as the twin of Harry Potter, Henry decides to screw the original plot and do everything she can not to die. This means teaching Harry what really happened in Godric's Hollow and how to use his magic. This still doesn't stop Voldemort from coming for them, but hopefully they're better prepared this time.
