Destroyed on body and soul, however, he delves into his own fantasy as a result of madness.

One of my many headcanons on Paperman: During memories of his service in World War II, he realizes the song he heard as a soldier is his and his love's song. Based on the German love song Lili Marleen written in 1915 by Lale Andersen as Lili Marleen literally fits Paperman in my eyes.

Hiccup is a young autistic adult man from a broken and abusive family. But he fells in love with a woman dealing with same. It is love on the sigh, but it still continue and Hiccup is about become a chief soon. They meet by chance, finds that they are soulmates. But their families don't wish good to the love.
