Obake has captured Hiro and is determined to turn him into his student that he will raise to his beliefs. He will nurture his talents in the new city that he will build out of the ashes of San Fransokyo. With Hiro being unwilling to join him Obake decides to reprogram the boy. After all, how could a 14-year old possibly understand the huge favor he is doing him by doing this?
