While pardoning Prince Phobos and bringing him to Heatherfield seemed like a good plan to steal the Heart of Meridian back from the relentless sorceress, Nerissa. The ITCH in WITCH noticed the obnoxious prince acted differently around their leader, something she seemed unaware of. Only once he weasels his way into a house guest of the Vandoms, does she start to take notice.

While on vacation to Meridian with the rest of the Guardians and the group, unrest in the kingdom reaches it peak. Leaving Will confused at the role she now has to play to help maintain peace, and also surprised at the lengths the queen and her council will go to attain that dream. Even if that means spilling royal blood.

After the events of 'Heart of Stone, Heart of Flesh', Will and Phobos are on the run from the forces of magic. They have to trust each other as, for the first time, there are no barriers between them. Bounds forged in fire are now put to the test, each learning their ego and pride are mutually fallible.

To prove their loyalty to the newly freed Prince Phobos, Cedric and Miranda locate the long lost Oath Forge. Only they are tracked down by old foes and two rivals are thrown in the Forge instead. Either they will form impossible bonds of trust or be lost in the magic forever.
