After losing everything, including his friends, during the final battle against Voldemort at Hogwarts, Harry tries to commit suicide by traveling through the Veil. However, instead of dying, he finds himself in an infinite loop, reliving his life over and over and over again in an attempt to find the perfect world in which Lord Voldemort loses. (One chapter per year, usually)
