Hermione and a few others who missed their final year of studies are invited to return to Hogwarts to participate in a month long audition process for an apprenticeship with Hogwarts faculty. Hermione could have her pick of the apprenticeships but longs to study potions. Unfortunately, she struggles to get her professor to acknowledge her greatness. Mostly cannon but Snape lives!
