When two of her family members are killed in a neighborhood shooting, Clary and her mother move to a new town. Clary joins Idris High, the local high school, ruled by the Lightwoods. Just as Clary's getting over her family's demise, she starts receiving threats and notes. It makes her wonder - was this just a neighborhood shooting or a targeted assassination?
