But Alisaie extending the olive branch accidentally when confessing to him a quiet secret from their parents makes Alphinaud go down a rabbit hole and learn that life didn't have to be that way. (Familial comfort, trans Alphinaud, angst, and self-acceptance!)

Alisaie and Alphinaud had suffered a lot to get to where they were now - in the Source, free of the shackles of their past burdens and ready to save Eorzea, whatever the cost. Waking up in the Source only to be disowned by their father was not something either were prepared for.
