Yet somehow, the Shinra Corporation manages to make it justified. Cloud Strife, ex-SOLDIER mercenary, has the feeling that he really ought to be the villain of this story...
Sephiroth is victorious over Cloud and his friends. Having no other choice, Minerva sends Aerith Gainsborough back in time to change the future. In order to do so, Aerith must overcome her previous life as a delicate mystical flower girl and become a true force of nature destined to save the world from the Calamity, and perhaps, even save the Calamity's children from it's grasp...
Six months after DeepGround, a disturbance is reported in the Northern Cave Crater. A teen girl with no memory of the world she is in wakes in the cave systems. After being brought to the newly renovated WRO headquarters to recover, strange things start to happen. For starters, while the girl has no memory of Gaia, others know her. It looks like the Planet is once again in peril.
When she was stabbed by Sephiroth, Aerith was expecting to join the lifestream and reunite with her first love, Zack Fair. However, fate had other plans as she found herself to be alive in another world. One in which she kept her affinity for the planet and joined another party in hopes of saving the world.
Zack Fair, and his comrade Cloud had escaped Professor Hojo's secret laboratory in Nibelheim. After many months, they are just days away to Midgar. During the journey, a catatonic Cloud awakens much to Zack's surprise. That one night, Cloud starts talking to him, about himself and each other. Cloud did join Shinra, but he just did his tour and got out. Once discharged, he moved under the plate, earning gil by doing odd jobs and monster hunting in the wastes around Midgar. On this particular day, it wasn't a monster he found, but a shot-to-hell SOLDIER who wasn't quite dead. A story of building a new life, gaining new friends, and a past that isn't quite done.
