The entity is getting desperate, even if no one can tell. Extending its reach into the normal world for new killers and suvivors takes a lot of energy, more than the new game pieces can provide. So why not radically change things to get more emotion out of the survivors and killers alike. Instead of expanding to new sources of energy, why not explore ones right in its own backyard.
