At the end of the winter, someone appears in Kaer Morhen who is connected to Jaskier's past and tears open old wounds. The bard embarks on a dangerous mission and Geralt must rethink how he really feels about Jaskier and whether he has really managed to mend their relationship after Caingorn.

When the Witchers have to make an alliance with Temeria to protect themselves from humans wanting to wipe them out, they have to agree to an arranged marriage as part of the alliance. The Wolf School head to Lettenhove for Geralt to marry the son of the Viscount. However when they get there they are not greeted by what they expected, and Geralt is much more hopeful for his future.
