In the days after the war, George Weasley is no more than a sad reflection of the upbeat, joking and bright person he used to be. He is hiding from the world in his flat and doesn't even let his own mother in. Now, how could one Hermione Granger possibly bring any change to that?
George notices that, intentionally or otherwise, Hermione Granger is beginning to fill some of the spaces Fred left behind. The work that he and Fred had begun together is now more important to him than ever before, a legacy of the time they shared. If Hermione is endeavoring to help George make that legacy live on, then he will welcome her efforts with open arms.
