Mycroft wouldn't let a little thing like morals prevent him from saving his little brother from himself. So he doesn't and while his plan may look extreme to the majority of the world he sleeps well knowing that it worked. Sometimes extreme measures are the best measures in the end. After all what does the opinion of the world matter to a man who looks at caring as a disadvantage.
