The Old World is a dangerous place where war is the great constant that shapes history. It is a place with little room for mercy and compassion, yet there are those who make it their goal to ease the constant suffering of those in need. It takes an odd sort of madness to be such a person who cares for others and doubly when you are friends with someone who is quite the opposite.
