Spring 1988 and Harry is pregnant with an unplanned baby. How will this impact upon their marriage, barely three months in existence?
It's January 1988. As head of crime busting SI-10, Chief Superintendent Gordon Spikings has many enemies. One of them wants retribution and nothing less than his death will suffice. Can Dempsey and Harry flush out the killers before they take out their boss? And...is there another contract afoot? One that involves the sound of wedding bells?
It's winter and Christmas is approaching. Harry's friends, Rupert Barrington-Smythe and Lady Arabella Cosgrove-Hartley are getting married and a weekend long celebration is planned. But then Arabella disappears. Dark forces are at work. Harry and Dempsey have to find her, and to complicate matters, Harry has to keep her involvement in SI-10 a secret from her friends.
It is 1992. Harry and James have a daughter, Alexandra, who is 4 years old and about to start school. Unbeknown to them, they are about to be embroiled in an incident that occurred during World War 2 nearly 50 years previously.
James and Harry are married and their first assignment as husband and wife will take them into the realms of science fiction. Plans and details of a US Navy experiment that went wrong in 1943 have gone missing from CIA Headquarters. They must be found before they fall into the wrong hands - and it may already be too late!
Dempsey and Harry are engaged to be married, a natural progression since they are deeply in love. Billie Maddox is a mentally broken psychopath, her childhood obliterated by a serial paedophile. As she takes her revenge on men, so the body count increases. Dempsey and Harry have to find her and stop her
This is Harry and James's second case as lovers as well as partners in SI-10. Their intimate relationship is still a tightly held secret. A dead, unidentifiable body, a knight of the realm and one of London's crime barons take Dempsey and Makepeace on a dangerous journey. Thwarted every time they get close to an arrest, is there a cuckoo in the nest?
Following on from Guardian Angel, this takes James and Harry into new territory as lovers as well as partners. Myra Giradino has had a visit from New York. And Dempsey and Makepeace are the targets!
Disappointed with the TV episode? Perhaps this would have been more appropriate - perhaps even more satisfying.
As a huge fan of Dempsey and Makepeace and, seeing as Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber have been happily married for 25 years, I thought a different ending to the last episode would be more fitting. It follows some of the dialogue from the shows, but in the main is my take on how it could, or should, have finished.
