This is an updated and improved version of Deep Waters. Some plot elements have been changed, since I now know exactly how Sam would feel and behave following Charlie's death. I made the decision to re-write this story following the sudden death on my own older brother on 23 June, 2021. This story is dedicated to him.

This story is a spin-off from How I Became Lightning, and is set after the events from that story. Lightning and his friends are looking forward to the 2020 Piston Cup season, but then a world-wide health crisis strikes. Is Lightning's dream of winning his 8th Piston Cup in jeopardy? The title says it all! This story describes Lightning's life from his perspective, from before he started racing, to the present. Please note that this story is completely separate from the other Cars stories that I've written. Will contain scenes based on all three movies, as well as coarse language and sexual themes.
