Jevikel is the eldest son of a Holder, living at an isolated farmhold on the eastern edge of Bitra. Duty has been drummed into him from birth; he must follow in his father's footsteps by marrying and raising a family who will do exactly the same in their turn. But when his cousin Kadin arrives at the Hold, he realises he can't hide his secret feelings any longer.
Menolly just wants to take a relaxing bath, but her fire lizards have other ideas.

What if the dragons of Pern did something like that for newly-hatched dragons? This is what it might look like. It contains good advice for all dragons, mingled with their befuddlement as they deal with the vagaries of the human race.

I wrote this book to act as a background for 'The Dragons Return'. There is a lot of information that never made it into the book but was necessary to understand what had come before and might have ended up in the story if I had expanded it more. Sorry for the poor formatting but FanFiction doesn't have a very comprehensive text editor.
