This old story has its foundation in the short-lived Superman/Wonder Woman comic. One of my many headcanons on Paperman: During memories of his service in World War II, he realizes the song he heard as a soldier is his and his love's song. Based on the German love song Lili Marleen written in 1915 by Lale Andersen as Lili Marleen literally fits Paperman in my eyes.
