Chapter 48

Lily felt Severus' strong arm around her waist.

"Get some sleep. Everything will be fine." He rasped and rubbed her belly.

She turned and sighed. Lily appreciated his thoughtfulness and lies. "It won't be. I know you saw it. He beat her. He raped her. Tuney told me so."

Severus opened his eyes. "How can I help?"

Lily nuzzled his neck. "Be nice to her." Sev arched an eyebrow. Lily traced his lips. "I know you will try. I just want her to feel supported.

There was an unspoken truth. Lily failed her sister. She should have corresponded with Tuney. The letters and Christmas cards stopped coming. It should have been a sign. Lily had just thought that it was over between them. They grew apart. Tuney said horrible things after their parents died. Tuney did not come to her wedding. Lily remembered that she stopped caring. She did not care to know Dudley. Lily accepted that her sister would not be part of Harry's life. She regretted not reaching out to her sister. Maybe if she had written more. Tuney would have told her about what was going on with Vernon.

She felt Severus kiss her forhead, soon his breathing evened out. Lily disentagled herself from him and stepped out of the room.

She went downstairs to get a glass of water. She could see the light from the stairs. Lily cursed mentally. She left her wand upstairs.

Lily approached the kitchen silently. She should have known. Tuney was there. She was surprised to see her scrubbing the kitchen island.

"Tuney?" She whispered.

Her sister startled and looked at her. "I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep."

"Don't apologize. I could not sleep either." Lily smiled a little.

"Lily, I am so sorry." Petunia erupted crying.

Lily sobbed and hugged her. "Im sorry too. I should have written. I should have."

Petunia shook her head. "I thought about it a million times. I used to think about when we were little. I was so stupid. You were always amazing. I was jealous of you. I thought mum and dad loved you better because you were always more special. Everyone loved you better and I was so stupid."

Lily hugged her more. "You are my sister and I love you. We had good time. We could start fresh. You'll live with us or you could have your own house. Severus has money. You could live wherever you wanted."

Tuney shook her head, "No, I would never. I know Severus does not like me much."

Lily grabbed her hands, "You are wrong. He doesn't know you. You don't know him well enough either. I am not saying you would be best friends but you would like each other."

Tuney laughed, "You've always been quite optimistic."

Lily smiled and wiped her tears, "Come with me. Do you want to watch the telly?"

Petunia nodded. Lily and her sat side by side. "I have Doctor Who and a bunch of movies."

"Doctor Who." Petunia said quickly. They watched TV until morning. They talked about the kids while they watched TV.

They were laughing and drinking coffee. Tuney could make a mean cup of coffee. "I should start breakfast."

Lily shook her head, "No, Sev will wake up soon. He will cook for us. Let's keeping talking."

Petunia nodded and went back to the couch. "I was thinking that Dudley could go to Harry's school."

Tuney nodded, "Yes, that would be good. He's missed a bit of school. There were times when I could not get up and get him to school."

Lily's heart broke a little. "Tuney, do you think you could see someone? Do you think it would be good for you?"

Her sister shook her head, "I talk to Mr. Snape. He is real nice. He recommended a place. I'm too scared to leave the house."

Lily heard running. Harry ran downstairs. He laughed and talked a mile per minute with Dudley who smiled too. "Yes, Dudley. We can go outside. Mum will not say no."

"Good morning mum. Auntie." Harry kissed them good morning.

Dudley hugged his mum and then kissed her shyly. "Go along but come back soon. Daddy will have breakfast ready soon."

"Your daddy cooks?" Dudley asked when they were headed to the yard.

Severus walked downstairs. His hair was a mess and he wore and sweats and a Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

"Good morning love." He kissed her and then greeted Petunia.

"I'll get started on breakfast." He stepped into the kitchen.

"I should go check on the children." Petunia walked to the yard.

Lily nodded and went to the kitchen. She kissed Severus' shoulder. "How is she doing?" He asked.

"Better. She is very scared." Lily replied. She felt easier now that they talked all night.

"She won't have to be. I will pay Dursley a little visit this afternoon." Severus fried some bacon.

"Be careful." Lily kissed his cheek.

"I will be." He replied.

Lily helped around and called Tuney and the kids.

Harry was having the time of his life. Dudley ran and lughed. Tuney laughed delightedly when Harry and Dudley came close to her.

"Breakfast is ready." She called out.

They ate while Harry asked a million questions. "Could we go to the Burrow. I want to play with Ron. Dudley should come too. We will have so much fun." Harry said eagerly.

Tuney looked at her son, "Do you want to go?"

Dudley nodded uncertainly. "Then we go."

Lily smiled, "Wonderful. Severus will take The boys and you and I will go shopping."

Dudley looked scared for a bit. "Mum won't go?"

"Lily, I think I should go." Lily tried to think of a nice way to say that Tuney needed clothes.

At the end it was down to Harry to convince everyone. "Don't worry Dudley. You will love it. There is lots of thing to do. I want you to meet all of my friends. We can play football. Even Ginny plays. Dad could we go to Grimmauld Place and get Draco?" Harry asked while Dudley grinned. Lily could tell the boy was excited.

"We could." Severus said. "I have some errands to run this afternoon. We could meet at the Burrow and then floo back here after dinner."

"A wonderful idea." Lily replied.

Dudley ate with gusto as did Harry.

Severus raised his hand and the dishes disappeared. Dudley's eyes rounded and Tuney gasped.

"Uncle Sev can do magic too?" Dudley asked. Petunia nodded, "All of auntie's friend can do magic too."

Dudly grinned, "wicked." He said. "You can do magic too Harry."

Harry nodded, "We all can."

Dudley looked a bit sad, "I can't."

Harry shrugged, "It doenst matter. You can kick the ball better than me and Draco. I saw you. I bet you can do a lot of wicked things.

Petunia smiled widely at Harry. "Dudley can run pretty fast. He won a medal. Isn't that right pumpkin?"

"I did." Dudley said proudly.

"Very well boys." Severus said. The boys ran upstairs. "You have to shower and brush your teeth. We are leaving soon. I imagine you and Tuney will want to leave soon too."

"In a bit. I want to look at the guest room again. Dudley needs his own room too. I thought to clear the small room so that Dudley could stay there. We have to do a lot of shopping."

Petunia smiled, "Thank you Lily. I don't know how to thank you."

"Don't say anything." Lily smiled brightly. "Now, come on. I have to transfigure some of Harry's clothes. Dudley is a big bigger I think." They went upstairs too.

Lily worked on clothes for Tuney and Dudley. Tuney watched and smiled. "I never thought I would miss your wand."

Lily tensed, "Oh no Lils. You mustn't think I am envious. I am immensely happy to have you back and after what Harry said today. I could not ever resent you for having magic."

Lily hugged her. "Do you think Dudley has magic?"

Petunia shook her head, "Not a bit. He's like me. Sometimes I wished he had a bit so we could go away."

Lily shook her head, "You are safe now. We are going shopping. You love shopping." Now go shower and have Dudley ready.

Petunia nodded. They checked on the kids. Harry was dressed and waited in the couch. Severus was ready too. Tuney came down with Dudley who looked excited.

Lily kissed her son, nephew and husband goodbye. Dudley did not look scared when they stepped into the chimney. "Amazing, how accepting children are." Tuney said. "Dudley did not even bat an eyelash."

Lily looked at her sister. "We are apparating." Lilly believed that it was best if Tuney was exposed to as much magic as possible. Desensitaze her as much as she could. She would be part of this world now.

"I trust you." Her sister replied.

"Now, let's sort out the rooms." They spent an hour decorating. Tuney seemed to understand the advantage of magic when Lily moved all the boxes to the attic.

"We'll get some toys and clothes for Dudley. Now let's get going." Lily said assertively.

It took them hours to get Dudley's things. Tuney put up a fight when Lily insisted on buying him a few toys. "Nonsense." Lily replied.

Tuney almost cried when they were at the women's department stores. Lily hugged her. "You were always very pretty. You need to show the world. You have wonderful taste too."

So Tuney chose clothes and promised to pay back. Lily refused to accept the offer. "I think this dark hair color suits you Tuney."

"I think so too." Tuney smiled and wore a blue summer dress. Tuney had a beautiful figure. She looked very pretty.

It was time for lunch when they apparated to the Burrow.

"They are all good people. Tuney remember that. If you feel overwhelmed come to me or Mr. Snape. We will help you." She said as they stepped inside the family house.

"Molly." Lily called

"Yes dear." It was from the kitchen.

Molly smiled brightly. "I'm finishing lunch. Be a dear and get the food outside."

"Oh I didn't notice you. You must be Petunia. Very nice to meet you dear." Petunia nodded.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" her sister asked.

"Yes, dearie, peel those potatoes." Molly said while she waved her wand around the kitchen.

Lily left Tuney who looked busy with the potatoes. She thought it would be safe to leave her occupied. Narcissa had baby Lyra on her lap. "Good afternoon Cissy."

Narcissa patted the chair next to her. "Sirius, tells me you have guests in your house."

Lily did not know how much Narcissa should know about her sister. It was not her place to disclose any information. Tuney would die of embarrassment if anyone else knew.

"Yes, my sister and nephew. She left her husband." Lily said primly.

"I see. Is it definite?" Narcissa asked politely.

"It is. It is the best decision my sister has made." Lily concluded.

She saw the children running around. Dudley and Harry ran behind Tobias"And how is this little lady?" Lyra gurgled.

"Bigger and bigger." Cissy smiled.

Soon Molly and Tuney came with lunch. "Severus should be here by now." Lily said.

Narcissa helped set the table. "He left with Remus and Sirius."

"Arthur" Molly called to the sky. Petunia watched as Bill, Charlie, Arthur, Percy and Gus flew down."

"That looks extremely dangerous." Her sister said.

"It is not." Gus grinned.

Tobias shook his head. "This has to be your fault." He waved a finger at Charlie. "My Eileen never liked brooms and neither did Severus."

Arthur chuckled. "Let's have lunch. Wait who are you?" The redheaded man asked Tuney.

"Petunia Dursley. I am Lily's sister." She said shyly.

Arthur extended his hand "How nice to meet you."

"Pleased to meet you too." She replied.

Arthur gasped. "I believe you are a muggle." He said with a glint in his eyes.

"I am." Petunia answered shakily.

"How interesting! Oh we must talk." He said genially. "You must know so much."

Petunia smiled, "I don't think I know much."

"But you do. You certainly do." Arthur trailed off kindly.

"Let me introduce you to everyone." The Weasly patriarch introduced everyone.

"Surely, you know Lily. That is Narcissa Lupin and baby Lyra." Arthur finished.

"Nice to meet you. I believe you met Sirius yesterday." Narcissa said with a smile. "He is my cousin. My husband and Severus do research together.

They ate contentedly. Petunia was overwhelmed but she was composed and smiled when Dudley got along with all the other children so nicely.

Lily should not have been worried. Tuney could handle herself.

Severus, Remus and Sirius appeared by dinner. Tuney spent more time in the kitchen with Molly who could befriend everyone. Tuney seemed to like the woman the best out of everyone.

"Hey love." Severus kissed her

"You were drinking." She took a wiff of him. "and smoking. How scandalous." She teased him.

Severus laughed, "It is teh mutt's fault."

Sirius was outside in the middle of the yard. Lily saw as Sirius transformed around the children. Dudley looked scared. Ron took his hand. "Don't worry. He does that all the time. It was scary when I saw it too."

Dudley nodded and gently petted the dog who licked his face. Petunia was pale. "I didn't know you could do that."

"Well, I can't." Lily said reassuringly "but Sirius can. He is an animagus."

"I don't know if I like that." Petunia answered immediately.

Severus smirked. "I like you better now Tuney." He said as he left to talk to Tobias.
