I don't own Harry Potter
As always thank you. Please read and review
Severus and Lily upped their security measures. Percy and Augustus postponed their wedding because it was not feasible to have the wedding happen when they were both so busy. They decided to get married the following summer. Bill and Fleur were also engaged and planning a wedding.
Hermione sat at the Burrow and listening to both Bill and Percy argue over wedding planning. Mrs. Weasley was on Percy's side it seemed.
"Bill, it's just too soon. You are rushing into this." She argued one night over family dinner. Harry and Hermione were there while Lily and Severus babysat for the Lupins.
Bill smiled and sighed, "we are getting married six months after Percy and Augustus."
Percy nodded, "Gus and I will like to get married next July."
Bill made a face. "Fleur always wanted a summer wedding but we will accommodate."
Mrs. Weasley rolled her eyes but remained silent. Hermione, Harry and Ron went up to his room.
"I don't know whether Percy will get married." Ron said as he fell to his bed.
"Why do you say that?" Harry asked him.
"I don't know if you've noticed but Gus was not here today. Percy has spent every night here for the past two weeks." Ron pointed out.
Hermione frowned, "now that you say that. We went to Dudley's for supper the other night and Gus was there too. Dudley said that he was spending a lot of time home too."
Ron shrugged, "those two were always together. All the time. It was nauseating really, almost as nauseating as Bill and Fleur making eyes at each other every chance they get."
Hermione rolled her eyes. She was a little jealuous of Fleur because she was sure that Ron liked her. Hermione became bored when Harry and Ron began to talk about quidditch.
She stepped out and went to see Ginny. "Hey Gin." Hermione came in.
"You got tired of your bodyguards?" Ginny giggled and pulled her inside her room.
"I have to tell you something." The redhead squealed.
Hermione smiled, "what? I said yes to Dean." Her friends said with a smile.
Hermione hugged her, "that is great news."
Ginny looked at her and read her like a book. "I know that you want to ask me something."
The older girl nodded, "I thought you like Harry."
Ginny's eyes were downcast. "I really do but he's just not interested. He sees me like Ron sees me. He was all over Cho last year and the year before."
Hermione remembered, "Dean is cool." She said as consolation.
Ginny nooded, "what about you? When are you going to tell my brother that you like him?"
Hermione averted her eyes, "I do not like any of your brothers."
Ginny smirked, "Draco then."
Hermione laughed, "that is as if I was interested in Harry. He could be my brother; besides he's definitely not interested in me."
Ginny shook her head, "you are quite pretty, you know. What about Viktor? Is he still writing to you?"
Hermione blushed a little, "he wrote last june. He wanted me to go to Bulgaria."
The redheaded girl chuckled, "You should have gone."
"No, Severus and Lily would not have let me go, besides all that happened it did not feel right." Hermione said with finality.
"You kissed him, did you not?" Ginny asked intrigued.
Hermione felt herself blush. "I did."
Ginny laughed with her, "you should have told me sooner. Spill how was it."
The older girl shrugged, "I don't know, it was weird. I haven't kissed anyone but him but it was just… It did not feel right."
"Because you are in love with my git brother." Ginny continued to prod.
"I am not." Hermione said and changed the subject to boys that Ginny had kissed. Hermione liked having girlfriends. Ginny was her only female friend besides Luna and the Ravenclaw girl could be a lot confusing at times.
"Tell me about the boys you have kissed." Hermione asked.
The girl swept her hair back, well there haven't been that many. "You know about Michael and Dean and I also kissed Draco."
Hermione smiled, "when did you kiss him?"
Ginny rolled her eyes. "I was nine and he was ten. I saw Bill kissing a girl and I wanted to kiss a boy. I wanted to kiss Harry but he always ran away from me. Draco saw me crying and I told him and he said that he could kiss me if I wanted to.
"It was a peck. He's always been very sweet to me. I do have to say Draco always tried to include me in all the games. Even when Ron was being an arse and Harry was his quiet and reserved self. Draco is very sensitive because he grew up with sisters." Ginny explained.
They spent the rest of the afternoon talking about boys and Le Phlegm. Hermione giggled all night with Ginny by her side.
She always had a nice time at the Weasleys. Harry and her flooed back to Cokeworth three days later. Severus and Lilies were not really concerned when they got back home. They had another crisis.
Hermione and Harry came back to Severus conforting a crying Augustus.
"What happened?" Harry rushed.
"Can I stay here tonight Sev? I don't want to go to dad's I'm not ready to tell him yet." Augustus wiped tears and went up to Harry's room.
Hermione was utterly confused. Lily mercifully explained, "Percy called off the wedding."
"What? Why?" Harry asked.
"We just saw him three days ago. He said Gus and him would marry by July." Hermione said confusedly.
Severus huffed and glanced at Lily, he then left for the basemant where he had his lab. Lily just sighed, "Augustus has been spending a lot of time at your grandfather's. Percy and Augustus had a row. It was Augutus idea to postpone the wedding. Percy proposed next year and Augustus was lukewarm to the idea. This will be fixed quickly. I would appreciate that you respect your uncle's privacy."
Hermione and Harry looked at her and nodded. They went up to Hermione's room. "Wild isn't it."
"It really is." Hermione said and invited him to rest next to her.
"Why did you spend so much time with Ginny?" Harry asked her after a silence.
"We were just talking and doing girl things." Hermione said.
"You two are not girly girls." Harry laughed.
"Gin likes quidditch and you like books. You are mates." He continued.
"Harry Severus Snape. Don't act like Ronald." Hermione frowned.
Harry chuckled, "I am not. But I'm curious. Ginny usually spends all the time with me and Ron playing quidditch but she only spent half the time with us and the other half with you in her room."
"Well, if you must know, we were talking about Dean." Hermione said. Harry tried to look uninterested.
"What about him?" Harry asked.
"Dean asked her out last June. She owled him to say yes. They are meeting at Diagon Alley when we go see the twins' shop next month.
Harry frowned, "so they are going out now."
"They are." Hermione said. Ginny would of course appreciate when Hermione explains Harry's sudden interest.
Harry remained quiet. Hermione changed the subject to Percy and Gus, "do you think that they are going to get back together?" She pointed at Harry's room.
"Of course they are. They've been together forever." Harry said and stayed with her until late that night.
Hermione threw him out after he started snoring. "Get out. You sound like an old car."
"Going." He said sleepily and waved goodbye.
Gus was in a state of deep depression for at least a week. Hermione and Harry tried to talk to him. Dudley visited and tried to talk to him too. Tobias and Petunia also came over for dinner and saw the sate that he was.
"This is nonsense sweetheart. You have to talk to him. He is your fiancé." Petunia said over tea.
"No, I am not. He's made his choice." Augustus said.
"That is pride talking." Tobias said and glared at his son. "That boy loves you and has put up with your indecision."
"I was trying to protect you." Augustus lashed out.
Tobias laughed, "you can try to let yourself believe that. Augustus, we live five houses away from your brother. Our house is warded."
Augustus stormed out of the room and into his bedroom. "You shouldn't have been so harsh on him Tobias." Petunia said.
"I will not have that boy blame us for his fears and insecurities. Percy is a good man. He does not deserve this from him. Molly is beside herself." Tobias explained. Severus just drank his wine and stayed quiet while Lily tried to hash things over. It was an uncomfortable time for all of them.
Things came to a head three days later. Gus took a leave from work and moped around the house listening to old and sad songs. His favorite was Love of My Life by Queen.
Hermione learned the lyrics quickly. "I cannot take that fucking song anymore." Harry said from the living room. Hermione plopped down next to him on the couch.
It seemed Severus could not take it either. Lily was at St. Mungos working so they were alone with Severus and Augustus.
Hermione was getting tired of the song as well. She hummed unconsciously.
"Love of my life, you've hurt me
You've broken my heart, and now you leave me
Love of my life, can't you see?
Bring it back, bring it back, don't take it away from me
Because you don't know what it means to me
Love of my life, don't leave me
You've taken my love, you now desert me
Love of my life can't you see?
Bring it back, bring it back, don't take it away from me
Because you don't know what it means to me
You will remember, when this is blown over
And everything's all by the way
When I grow older, I will be there at your side, to remind you
How I still love you (I still love you)
Back, hurry back, please bring it back home to me
Because you don't know what it means to me
Love of my life
Love of my life"
Augustus sang at the top of his lungs. Hermione sighed and was taken aback when Severus slammed the door and went up to Harry's room.
"Get up and shower" Severus hissed. "Do not make me make you." He continued.
Harry and her went up the stairs too. Hermione was too curious to stay back. "Get up." Severus repeated and hit him.
"Dad was always too soft with you." Severus said and removed the covers from him.
Augustus was on his pjs and had a picture of Percy by his side. "Stop it." He said and tried to move away from him.
Severus aimed his wand at him and water exploded out of it. "Get yourself ready and go to the Burrow. Beg for forgiveness and set a date for the blasted wedding. You are not staying here any longer. Go and fix it. You will not defile Queen any longer." He said and got him to the bathroom by the collar.
"You two go back downstairs." He hissed and went back to his lab.
Hermione did not expect for Augustus to actually leave for the Burrow but he did.
"I so hope that Percy takes him. Please, please let Percy take him back." Harry chanted.
His wishes came true because soon enough Gus left with Percy and they were kissing all over everywhere. They set a date for Boxing day that year rain or shine."
Hermione smiled and congratulated them both. Tobias smiled and kissed them. "Thank you Percy for being so patient and loving this boy." Percy smiled and kissed Gus some more.
Hermione continued to have a nice summer. She liked the twins' shop but was saddened to see how empty the streets were. Fortescue's was closed as was Ollivander's. She looked around and felt such nostalgia for the old Diagon Alley. The one she saw for the first time when she was eleven years old.
Draco and his mother met with them at the shop. Harry and Ron were by the back of the shop.
"How is baby Pandora?" Hermione asked her friend.
"She is a nice baby, very quiet, very nice unlike Lyra was." He chuckled and then asked for Ginny.
"Where is Gin?" He asked her quickly.
"Oh, she's with Dean." Hermione replied carelessly while looking at pygmy puffs.
Draco frowned, "what? Didn't she just stopped seeing that Corner tosser?"
Hermione nodded, "well yeah. Dean asked her out last June after she broke up with Michael."
"Why is she interested in that git?" Draco spat.
Hermione gasped, "you like her." She said quickly.
"Well, of course I do. Have you seen her? She's great looking, smart, though and I love her hair." Draco replied.
Hermione gaped at him. "Oh don't look at me like that." He pulled her to a storage closet.
"What else did Ginny say about that tosser? Spill, I know you spent like a whole week at the Burrow." He said quickly.
Hermione rolled her eyes, "I am not going to tell you."
Draco frowned, "does she know I exist?"
"Draco please, I can't tell you these things. Ginny trusts me, she's my friend." Hermione explained.
"Fine, just look at me." Draco said, "Is she still in love with Harry?"
Hermione looked away, "I don't know what you are talking about."
"Does she like me at least?" He continued to ask.
"Of course she does." She replied softly.
"But not like she likes Harry or that tosser Dean Thomas." Hermione hugged him.
She could not tell him that Harry may like Ginny too. "I'm not giving up on her." He said and hugged her back.
Harry and George then opened the closet. "We got company." Draco said and stepped out of the broom closet.
Hermione rolled her eyes when George began singing, "Draco and Mione sitting on a tree."
"Grow up." She said and rolled her eyes.
Harry caught up to her, "so you and Draco."
"Please, that would be like you and me." She replied.
Harry made a face, "don't be disgusting. You're my sister."
Hermione sighed and rested his head on his shoulder as they walked out of the shop. Tonks escorted them back to Tom's pub. They Flooed back to Cokeworth and found Lily and Severus snogging on the couch.
"Ugh." Harry said and stepped out of the fireplace.
Lily righted her hair, "did you have a nice time?"
Hermione smiled, "we did." Severus glared at them.
"Fend for yourselves." He said and grabbed Lily's hand.
Lily laughed and followed him. Harry made a face. "I don't want to talk about it." He said.
"Want to go to the theater?" Harry asked her.
"Let's go." Hermione said.
They left and picked up Dudley who was with friends and off they went.
Hermione appreciated feeling like a regular teenager a muggle. Dudley was great for that.
She could not complain about summers with the Snapes. The only thing was that there were more attacks and people disappearing. Lily and Severus left for Order meetings weekly. George and Fred were part of it now and they told them about some of the meetings but not everything.
Soon it was time to go back to Hogwarts. She spent the whole ride with Ron and Draco. They both spoke about quidditch and then about the new DADA teacher.
"Who do you think we'll get?" Ron asked while eating a chocolate frog.
Draco shrugged, "as long as they are competent." He said with a sigh.
Ron rolled his eyes, "I liked Remus and Mad Eye."
Hermione sighed, "hopefully, we have a quiet year."
"Highly unlikely." Ron replied, "Up Mione, we have to start rounds."
Hermione noticed that Ron was more tactile and tried to get her away from Draco as much as possible. She liked being with Ron by herself, he was less annoying, nicer to her. She knew she was in love with him since they were thirteen but he was thoughtless.
"Mione, Ginny said something about Krum writing to you." He said carefully as they walked down the train.
"We are pen pals." Hermione replied honestly.
Ron nodded and grabbed her waist, "hurry along, I see lost first years." Hermione felt a shiver when she felt his large hand on her side.
The biggest surprise of the night was when Dumbledore announced the DADA professor. They all thought it would be the round man sitting by professor McGonagall. It was not.
"Please join me welcoming back professor Slughorn. He will be taking over professor Snape who will be our new DADA professor." There were gasps.
Harry clapped half heartedly. "They only last a year." He whispered to her. Hermione saw Severus only nod and continue with his meal.
